Role Overview

UAEN Specialist UI Design (Graduate Trainee) at du, located in the United Arab Emirates. This opportunity is open to UAE Nationals eligible for the Graduate Trainee Programme with less than two years of work experience.

Role Purpose

Design exceptional user interfaces across du's expanding digital product portfolio spanning web, app, and TV. Translate product requirements and user research into high-fidelity designs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to create user-centered solutions that balance design excellence with technical feasibility.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Prototyping

• Translate product requirements and user research insights into wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Create and iterate on screen designs across web and mobile platforms, ensuring visual consistency and adherence to the design system.
• Contribute to and maintain the design system, ensuring component documentation and pattern consistency.

User Research & Testing

• Conduct and participate in usability testing sessions, incorporating feedback to refine and improve designs.

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with product managers and engineers throughout the product development lifecycle to align design solutions with technical constraints and business requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, presenting work to peers and stakeholders and incorporating constructive feedback.
• Communicate design decisions clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.

Professional Development

• Stay current with UX/UI trends, tools, and best practices, bringing relevant insights into the team's work.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in UX Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, or Digital Design.
• Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with Digital Media or Interactive Design specialization.
• Degree in Computer Science with UX/UI Design focus.
• Degree in Information Systems with User Experience specialization.
• Degree in Software Engineering with strong UX/UI portfolio.
• Degree in Psychology with completed UX/UI certifications or bootcamps.
• Degree in Media & Communication with digital product design exposure.
• Less than two years of work experience; candidates meeting this criterion will be considered as part of the Future X programme.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design thinking, visual craft, and user-centered solutions. Graduate Trainee applicants should provide examples from university degree or internships.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in Figma to create and deliver designs and prototypes.
• Solid understanding of interaction design principles, information architecture, and accessibility standards.
• Design thinking and problem-solving mindset; approaches challenging situations proactively.
• Ability to work well with ambiguity.
• Solid time management; able to manage multiple simultaneous requests and demands and plan accordingly.
• Ability to empathize with users and translate empathy into design insight.
• Outstanding skill in UI design and clear understanding of the distinction between UX and UI.

Additional Information

• Experience working in agile product teams is preferred.
• A keen interest in UX, UI, and Product Design is essential to success in this role.
