Tool Room Attendant

Role Overview

Tool Room Attendant at Al Tayer Group, Dubai, UAE. Stock, maintain, and manage tools and equipment for technicians across franchise locations, facilitating efficient receipt and issuance to support smooth service operations.

Role Purpose

Ensure all tools and diagnostic equipment are properly stocked, maintained, tracked, and distributed to technicians across locations. Liaise with the Workshop Tool Coordinator to procure inventory and manage tool room operations that enable reliable service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

• Receive requirements for new and warranty replacement tools and diagnostic equipment from all franchise locations.
• Submit procurement requests to the Workshop Tool Coordinator for purchase arrangement.
• Suggest potential suppliers to establish best price, quality, and service standards.
• Recommend favorable suppliers to the Workshop Tool Coordinator for review and confirmation.
• Assess tool and equipment requirements for new locations and proactively request optimal quantities to support operations.
• Follow up with the Workshop Tool Coordinator and suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Identify any damage or loss on receipt and arrange return for replacement or refund.

Inventory & Stock Management

• Maintain the tool room to ensure tools are stored in an orderly manner facilitating easy pickup and delivery.
• Issue, record, and dispatch tools to technicians as per requirements.
• Receive and verify tools returned by technicians against delivery notes.
• Conduct periodic and surprise audits of technicians' tool boxes.
• Report discrepancies to the Workshop Manager or Workshop Tool Coordinator.
• Arrange replacement of missing tools by debiting the amount to the responsible technician.
• Coordinate with other tool rooms or the Workshop Tool Coordinator to obtain tools unavailable at the location and ensure timely return.
• Keep track of maintenance schedules for tools and equipment.
• Monitor lubricant levels in tanks and place orders as required.
• Arrange annual stock check as per statutory audit requirements.
• Conduct and document perpetual inventory checks.

Tool Maintenance & Replacement

• Replace broken tools with technicians.
• Recover replacement costs from technicians when breakage results from negligence.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure tools and equipment are repaired and maintained in good condition.

Asset & Facility Management

• Oversee the sales and disposal of scrap and used tires, ensuring the process complies with company policy.
• Coordinate with the Workshop Tool Coordinator to arrange maintenance contracts for major equipment.
• Coordinate with facility management regarding building issues including air conditioning, water supply, electricity, and structural damage.

Compliance & Safety

• Keep up to date with Government fire, health, safety, and environment regulations.
• Ensure workshops are in compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Ensure fire extinguishers and water dispensers are properly maintained.
• Verify emergency doors are not blocked.

Manufacturer Exchange Programs

• Coordinate with all parties involved in exchange programs organized by manufacturers.
• Take responsibility for packing, forwarding, and receiving exchange items.
• Maintain all documentation related to exchange programs.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school or intermediate school education.
• Two years of experience in stores.

Skills & Competencies

• Attention to detail.
• Confidence and strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel.
