Role Overview

Technical Operations Engineer (TOPS) at Anduril Industries, based initially in London, UK, with relocation to Abu Dhabi, UAE, to support the Advanced Capabilities team's new simulation center.

Role Purpose

The Technical Operations Engineer serves as a customer-facing operator within the Air Maneuver Dominance / Advanced Capabilities team, providing technical expertise to deploy and support Anduril's integrated hardware-software products for immersive wargaming simulation and augmented reality demonstrations. The role ensures seamless delivery of training and simulation services to regional partners and customers.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Delivery

• Serve in a customer-facing capacity working directly with EDGE and the Emirati Ministry of Defense to develop and deploy Anduril integrated hardware-software products to meet customer and operational needs.
• Support the delivery of contract deliverables including developing deployment plans, setting up equipment, configuring and testing equipment and software for immersive wargaming simulation and augmented reality demonstrations and presentations.
• Build relationships and refine processes across Software, Hardware, Logistics, Growth, and Engineering teams to rapidly deliver immersive, seamless, and effective experiences to partners and customers.
• Provide input to product and engineering teams to drive development of product features and configurations that enhance employment of Anduril's Virtual Warfare products.
• Support end-users in understanding and using capabilities through developing continually improving content, integration into existing Anduril and customer systems, and delivery of effective events that maximize engagement and understanding of advanced warfare concepts.

Field Operations & Troubleshooting

• Support in-depth multi-day wargaming exercises including planning, preparation, deployment and recovery of AR/VR and hardware equipment.
• Execute software and hardware troubleshooting actions in field environments and follow-up actions with software platform providers before, during and after customer missions.
• Own deployment of Anduril's Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality, gaming engine and mission simulation software and associated hardware capabilities at demonstration events, exercises and wargames.
• Work proactively to identify potential issues and execute solutions with minimal external support.
• Troubleshoot any issues with AR/VR headsets, laptops, software, network and other equipment as needed.

Feedback & Continuous Improvement

• Design and implement user feedback loops and effective event After Action Reviews to gather, triage and prioritize requirements, feedback, issues and challenges found through employment of Anduril AR/VR, Visual and simulation products during training, exercises and daily corporate demo use.
• Develop and contribute to the Advanced Capabilities team that includes cross-functional representation from Project and Program Managers, Operations Analysts, Mission Simulation Engineers, Wargaming Engineers, Design/Artists, senior Air Maneuver Dominance team, corporate leadership, other business lines, additional TOPS teammates and customers.
• Ensure the team continues to improve, refine and streamline user feedback and engagement systems including issue tracking, training sessions, refreshers and focused preparation for both small scale demos and large scale exercises and events.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience working across diverse sets of clients, teams, roles and operational environments while providing excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated comfort communicating effectively both internally and externally across teams, business lines, software platforms, organizations and clients.
• Experience with complex problem solving, proactive planning, rehearsals and troubleshooting to ensure seamless, transparent customer experience.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and obsession with ensuring products are ready before customer use.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain associated country background check and security clearance to support increasingly complex and potentially classified exercises.
• Willingness to travel, be based in the UAE and participate in collaboration with teammates in the UK and USA.

Skills & Competencies

• Software engineering expertise with hands-on experience using and troubleshooting AR/VR technologies, virtual servers, audio/visual and desktop software.
• Familiarity with military operations, tactics, techniques, procedures and hierarchies.
• Proficiency with Confluence, Jira, Slack, Quip, MS Office and Zoom.
• Experience with military technology including unmanned systems (air and ground), communications and electronic warfare equipment, joint fires and maneuver warfare munitions and vehicles.
• Ability to build trust with clients and teammates quickly and effectively under stressful conditions.
• Prior military or government leadership experience.
