TECHNICAL ENGINEER

Role Overview

Technical Engineer (Port Engineer) with NMDC Group, providing full-time technical support and oversight for all support craft vessels operating under the project.

Role Purpose

Ensure all support craft vessels remain safe, compliant, and fully operational to support project activities without delays through comprehensive technical oversight and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Vessel Technical Management

• Monitor the technical condition of all support craft vessels on an ongoing basis.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Address all mechanical, electrical, and structural issues promptly.
• Follow up on open observations, deficiencies, and inspection findings until timely closure.

Maintenance & Repair Coordination

• Coordinate with Operations, HSE, Marine, and Procurement teams to plan repairs and manage spare parts requirements.
• Supervise repair activities in port or drydock.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with project requirements and applicable marine standards.
• Review work scopes and technical documentation.

Vessel Inspections & Compliance

• Support vessel inspections, audits, and regulatory or class-related requirements as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with safety and technical standards.
• Maintain familiarity with classification society and regulatory compliance requirements.

Stakeholder & Crew Coordination

• Work closely with vessel crews and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of technical work.
• Coordinate with project teams to maintain operational readiness of the support craft fleet.
• Assist in vessel mobilization or modifications when required.

Technical Reporting

• Prepare technical reports as required.
• Document vessel technical status and maintenance activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent technical field.
• Minimum 3–7 years of experience in marine or offshore vessel operations.
• Preferably with support craft or utility vessels.
• Experience in vessel maintenance, drydock operations, or technical coordination highly desirable.
• Marine Engineer certification or relevant statutory certifications preferred.
• Valid offshore or port access certificates may be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of marine systems: mechanical, electrical, and structural.
• Expertise in vessel maintenance and repair procedures.
• Understanding of project operations, HSE requirements, and safety management systems.
• Ability to implement safety standards during maintenance and operational activities.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work effectively with vessel crews, subcontractors, and project teams.

Additional Information

• Full-time on-site presence required.
• Support for 24/7 operational requirements as needed.
