Team Leader - Mechanical at AWR Group. This role manages workshop operations to ensure vehicle allocation, repair quality, technician utilization, efficiency, productivity, and on-time readiness.

Role Purpose
To manage workshop vehicle allocation, repair quality, technician utilization, efficiency, productivity, and on-time vehicle readiness while ensuring financial targets, quality standards, and customer satisfaction are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Financials
- Ensure achievement of workshop financial and non-financial targets.
- Explore additional repair opportunities and liaison with Estimator for insurance approval.
- Explore additional repair opportunities and liaison with Service Advisor for customer approval.
- Support frontline team to upsell value-added services including Smart Repairs.
- Ensure overtime schedule of technicians when necessary.
Strategic Implementation
- Monitor technician utilization, efficiency, and productivity.
- Ensure punctuality and discipline of workshop team on the shop floor.
- Receive job orders via hard copy or system and allocate to technicians based on skill matrix and promised delivery time.
- Assist team and technicians in diagnosing complicated cases by providing complaint occurrence and condition information.
- Provide technical and diagnosis assistance to technicians and frontline staff.
- Supervise and guide repair work.
- Attend high-profile and corporate customers with utmost professionalism.
- Stand in for Workshop Manager and support as required.
- Handle and resolve critical customer complaints and escalate to Workshop Manager if further assistance is required.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job training to newly joined team leaders.
- Assist Workshop Manager with day-to-day activities as required.
- Ensure workshop and technician cleanliness.
- Conduct post-service and post-repair vehicle testing both dynamic and static to confirm services and repairs meet quality standards.
- Identify parts required for repair, generate system indent, and coordinate with Parts department.
- Process VOR, CPVOR, and cannibalization requests for non-available parts.
- Maintain good interpersonal relations with subordinates and superiors.
- Provide continuous feedback to Workshop Manager to rationalize standard hours.
- Ensure quick turnaround time for Production Line and Major Express repairs.
- Ensure quick turnaround time for internal and fleet customer repairs.
Customer Journey
- Ensure on-time completion of jobs as per delivery schedule.
- Provide technical interaction and explanation with customers if required.
Stakeholder Management
- Ensure total work quality and repair process compliance with manufacturer standards.
- Liaison with warranty section in executing warranty, goodwill, and recall campaign claim identification and approval process management.
Learning & Growth
- Motivate technicians and maintain teamwork.
- Share and explain PSU and technical bulletins with technicians.
- Provide on-the-job training for technicians.
- Evaluate and provide feedback for post-training improvements.
- Conduct annual performance appraisal of direct reporting team members.
- Show initiative for training and self-improvement.
Policies, Procedures & Corporate Governance
- Ensure workshop safety procedures and requirements are strictly applied and followed as per SOP including personal safety, equipment safety, and customer vehicle safety.
- Ensure workshop teams adhere to proper documentation before starting repairs, repair approval of jobs, job allocation, technician clock in and clock out, and HSE procedures.
- Adhere to warranty claim policies in line with principal guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or 3-year diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-5 years practical experience in a dealership with minimum 2 years at supervisory level.
Skills & Competencies
- Valid driving license.
- Working knowledge of digital tools used in the automotive industry.
- Leadership and communication skills.
- Basic English.
