Role Purpose

To provide comprehensive support to classroom teachers and pupils, enabling students to fully participate in school activities and succeed academically while supporting their social, emotional, and physical well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom & Academic Support

• Provide academic assistance to pupils.
• Deliver group instruction as prescribed by the teacher or provide individual instruction.
• Demonstrate various instructional activities.
• Monitor work assigned by teacher, checking and correcting pupils' work while in progress.
• Keep pupils on task.
• Praise and reinforce achievements of pupils and report pupil progress to teacher.
• Support class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Assist class teachers in photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.

Individual & Additional Needs Support

• Provide support for individual pupils and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation in activities during the school day.
• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils and groups of pupils and help monitor their progress.
• Support pupils with additional support needs, such as emotional and behavioural difficulties, and help develop their social skills.
• Partner with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

• Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
• Provide support for pupils' social, emotional, and physical well-being.
• Supervise pupils in the classrooms and other locations.
• Monitor attendance.

Behaviour & Discipline

• Participate in development of behaviour policy and promote pupils' self-esteem.
• Discipline misbehaviour in line with the whole school policy.

Materials & Display

• Prepare and present displays of pupils' work.
• Reorganise materials at the end of the day.

School Compliance & Conduct

• Support the aims of the school; comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation, and school policies.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
• Attend team and staff meetings as required.
• Undertake other duties from time to time as the principal requires.

Qualifications & Experience

• Secondary school certificate (minimum).
• At least two years of experience in the school field.

Skills & Competencies

• English language skills or proficiency in the language applied in the school curriculum.
• Genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region.
• Alignment with school core values and ethos.
