Aldar Education seeks a Teacher - Psychology (Maternity Cover) for Bateen World Academy in Abu Dhabi, commencing January 2027.

Role Purpose

To create a climate conducive to outstanding learning and teaching in Psychology. The role involves designing and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, maintaining high standards of behavior and work, and contributing to the broader academic and pastoral mission of the academy.

Key Responsibilities

Learning and Teaching

• Identify clear teaching objectives and specify how they will be taught and assessed.
• Set tasks that challenge students and ensure high levels of interest.
• Set appropriate and demanding expectations.
• Set clear targets, building on prior attainment.
• Identify SEN or very able students.
• Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
• Make effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of programmes of study.
• Make effective use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning and deliver differentiated learning matched to need.
• Ensure effective teaching and best use of available time.
• Maintain an effective learning environment in accordance with academy procedures and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behavior, standards of work and homework.

Assessment and Monitoring

• Mark and monitor students' work and set targets for progress.
• Use performance data to inform planning and ensure Learning and Teaching continue to add value.
• Assess and record students' progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed.
• Monitor strengths and areas for development.
• Inform planning and recognize the level at which the student is achieving.
• Undertake assessment of students as requested by examination bodies, departmental and academy procedures.
• Prepare and present informative reports to parents.

Academy Engagement and Development

• Take part in subject or aspects of the academy's work and develop plans which identify clear targets and success criteria for its development and/or maintenance.
• Contribute to the whole academy's visioning activities.

Compliance and Governance

• Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation.
• Adhere to academy policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations.
• Comply with the academy's Performance Management Policy ensuring challenging annual targets are set.
• Fulfill the role of performance management reviewer if directed to do so by the Principal.
• Comply with the academy's staff dress code at all times including the wearing of photo ID/lanyard.
• Comply with the academy's computer Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) at all times.
• Attend all staff briefings.
• Sign out and sign in at relevant academy reception if off site at any point during the normal working day.

Professional Development and Safeguarding

• Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding and health and safety together with all training deemed appropriate for the purpose of academy improvement or performance management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Education or other relevant field with a teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in teaching specialist subject up to GCSE and A Level desirable but not essential.
