Role Purpose

To deliver engaging lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve the best possible outcomes across the Nursery to Year 13 age range while supporting the pastoral needs of the school community and contributing to the wider life and ethos of the school.

Key Responsibilities

Teamwork and Collaboration

• Foster positive relationships with all members of the school community.
• Work alongside fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements.
• Liaise with colleagues professionally and work flexibly.
• Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff to support student development.
• Work as part of a department team, supporting planning, assessment, resources and special events.

Teaching and Learning

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the British curriculum.
• Organize classroom provision, learning resources and displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Plan, prepare and present sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within classes taught.
• Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching.
• Ensure the Mamoura British Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes are embedded throughout the curriculum.

Assessment and Data

• Take responsibility for the progress of classes taught.
• Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of students' development using the school's designated assessment system.
• Observe and assess children in line with the school assessment policy.
• Use data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision and intervention.
• Provide feedback to parents and carers on students' progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
• Be reflective of classroom provision, sessions taught and progress made, adjusting environment, planning and curriculum accordingly.

Behaviour Management and Duties

• Follow the school's Behaviour Policy.
• Manage classes effectively, using approaches appropriate to students' needs to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
• Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary within the school's Behaviour Policy.
• Be a positive role model, demonstrating consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils.
• Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.
• Ensure the Mamoura Values DNA language and attitudes are embedded throughout the curriculum.
• Carry out duties as directed and within school policy.

Pastoral Care

• Act as a form tutor and support the pastoral needs of students.
• Work with parents to ensure the happiness and best academic outcomes for all students.

Stakeholder Communication

• Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding students' achievements and well-being using school systems and processes such as CPOMS as appropriate.

Wider Professional Responsibilities

• Support the organizing and taking part in school events, outings and activities, which may take place at weekends or in the evening.
• Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
• Run ECAs in line with the sports programme as directed by Head of PE.

General Communication

• Be a good communicator at all levels.
• Demonstrate commitment to developing positive relationships with all members of the school community.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a Bachelor Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' teaching experience.
• Teaching across the age ability range with proven success.
• Experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum.
• Experience of working in more than one International School is desirable.
