Systems Engineer - APPSEC

Role Overview

Systems Engineer – APPSEC (FortiADC, FortiWeb, FortiAppSec) at Fortinet, located in Dubai, UAE. As a member of the System Engineering department, you will work closely with the Sales Team to position our portfolio of Solutions.

Role Purpose

Lead all technical aspects of enterprise sales cycles and deliver solutions that understand and exceed customer requirements. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers and partners, translating business needs into architecturally sound, competitive offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Cycle Leadership

• Lead all technical aspects of a sales cycle with Enterprise customers, from initial RFIs through RFPs and RFQs when required.
• Manage projects and actively participate in Proof of Concepts in partnership with internal teams and customer and/or commercial partners.

Customer & Partner Engagement

• Listen to and understand the technical requirements of customers, reading between the lines to build solutions that outperform competitor offerings.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers and partners in close collaboration with your sales partner.

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical pre-sales experience: 8 years minimum.
• Vendor experience in similar fields.
• Experience in a global organization; international experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the network security industry.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of Web Technology, Application Security, Network Security, TCP/IP, Routing, and Switching.
• Architectural and hands-on experience with both on-premises and cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Expert level in at least two of the following areas:

DDoS Expertise

• DoS/DDoS detection, analysis, and mitigation.
• Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
• TCP/IP and DNS in-depth knowledge.
• Multi-layer L3-L4-L7 attack vectors.
• Vulnerability analysis, network defense, and auditing processes.

ADC Expertise

• Load Balancing (SLB, LLB, GSLB).
• OWASP TOP10 knowledge.
• Negative and Positive Security models.
• Signature and Machine Learning based protection.
• HTTP/2 and HTTP/3.
• TLS 1.3.
• API security (OpenAPI, REST, GraphQL).
• Bot Protection and DoS protection.
• Threat Analytics.

CASB Expertise

• Proxy, API, and Cloud SaaS (for example Office 365, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Box).
• Cloud IaaS management.
• Compliance reporting.
• SSPM and DLP.
• EntraID and Directory Services.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills

• Strong presentation skills to executives, DMU, and technical individual contributors.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, independent thinker.

Additional Information

Certifications

• CISSP, CISM, Fortinet NSE4, NSE7, or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with one of the leading vendors is preferred.
