Survey Engineer

Role Overview

Survey Engineer at Oceaneering. The role supports offshore survey operations and ensures safe, compliant execution of survey tasks across marine construction projects.

Role Purpose

To conduct, document, and deliver accurate survey operations in compliance with safety protocols and client specifications, while maintaining equipment integrity and supporting team performance.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Assist fellow employees in performing their work in accordance with safe work procedures.
• Conduct and document daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and safety pre-tower meetings.
• Comply with company safety rules and training, conduct operations safely, and report any unsafe condition or practices immediately to supervisor.
• Responsible for the care and safety of company equipment.

Operations & Technical Execution

• Manage and carry out specific job tasks as requested by Client, Project Manager, and Survey Manager.
• Run an online survey and inspection spread.
• Calibrate heading, attitude, and bathymetric sensors.
• Configure navigation software for use on the correct projection and geodetic datum.
• Create and configure online navigation to show vessel(s), ROVs, and relevant map information appropriate for project tasks.
• Fault find the system.
• Configure logging of project data.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare survey reports.
• Ensure knowledge of reporting requirements appropriate to the current project, including content and format.

Training & Development

• Train and adhere to Oceaneering or client company's specific requirements.
• Train fellow field personnel.

Qualifications & Experience

• Survey, Geomatics, or Hydrography degree or equivalent relevant offshore experience.
• Offshore marine construction experience required.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Proficient with DGPS systems (C-Nav systems, Hemisphere systems).
• Proficient with survey software (Eiva and 4D Nav).
• Proficient with multibeam systems.
• Full understanding of calibration requirements and procedures of survey systems and sensors.
• Knowledge of installation and configuration of technical software.
• Full understanding of requirements for data management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Packages.
• Good knowledge of IT systems with respect to online navigation spreads.
