Role Overview

Supervisor, Mining at Ma'aden. This role oversees and coordinates mining activities at a designated mine site, managing teams of mining operators and ensuring safe, efficient ore extraction while meeting production targets.

Role Purpose

The Supervisor Mining is responsible for overseeing and coordinating mining activities at a designated mine site. This role involves managing a team of mining operators, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations, optimizing production efficiency, and coordinating with other departments to achieve production targets. The Supervisor Mining plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of ore, managing equipment utilization, and implementing best practices to maximize productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Production

• Supervise and coordinate mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and dumping activities, to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
• Coordinate with mine planning and engineering teams to implement mine plans, optimize pit designs, and sequence mining activities to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution.
• Monitor and control operating costs, managing consumables, fuel consumption, and labor resources to optimize productivity and minimize operating expenses.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and environmental standards in all mining activities, conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.
• Conduct regular inspections of mining equipment, infrastructure, and work areas, identifying maintenance requirements, safety hazards, and opportunities for process improvements.

Team Leadership & Development

• Provide leadership and direction to mining crews, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and training to improve skills and efficiency.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among mining personnel, promoting adherence to company policies, values, and performance standards.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Monitor equipment performance and utilization, coordinating maintenance activities and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and equipment logs, preparing reports and documentation for management review and regulatory compliance.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with other departments, such as geology, processing, and maintenance, to coordinate ore delivery, grade control, and equipment scheduling to support overall production objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, geology, or related field.
• Additional certifications in mine supervision or leadership are advantageous.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in open-pit or underground mining operations.
• At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of mine planning principles, ore reserve estimation, and grade control practices to optimize production and minimize ore loss and dilution.
• Proficiency in mine safety regulations, risk management practices, and environmental compliance requirements applicable to mining operations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams, resolve conflicts, and foster a positive work culture.
• Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify operational inefficiencies, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
