Role Overview

Supervisor, Mining at Ma'aden. Reporting to Superintendent, Mining. Business Unit: GGM. Department: Mining Production – GGM. Grade M10.

Role Purpose

The Supervisor Mining oversees and coordinates mining activities at a designated mine site, managing a team of mining operators while ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations, optimizing production efficiency, and coordinating with other departments to achieve production targets. The role is critical to the safe and efficient extraction of ore, management of equipment utilization, and implementation of best practices to maximize productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Mining Operations

• Supervise and coordinate mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and dumping activities, to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.

Safety, Compliance & Environmental Management

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and environmental standards in all mining activities.
• Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.

Team Leadership

• Provide leadership and direction to mining crews, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
• Deliver coaching and training to improve skills and efficiency.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among mining personnel.
• Promote adherence to company policies, values, and performance standards.

Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate with mine planning and engineering teams to implement mine plans and optimize pit designs.
• Sequence mining activities to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution.
• Liaise with other departments, such as geology, processing, and maintenance, to coordinate ore delivery, grade control, and equipment scheduling to support overall production objectives.

Equipment Management

• Monitor equipment performance and utilization, coordinating maintenance activities and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
• Conduct regular inspections of mining equipment, infrastructure, and work areas, identifying maintenance requirements and safety hazards.

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and equipment logs.
• Prepare reports and documentation for management review and regulatory compliance.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process improvements during inspections and operations.
• Identify operational inefficiencies, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Cost Management

• Monitor and control operating costs, managing consumables, fuel consumption, and labor resources to optimize productivity and minimize operating expenses.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, geology, or related field.
• Additional certifications in mine supervision or leadership are advantageous.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in open-pit or underground mining operations.
• Minimum of 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of mine planning principles, ore reserve estimation, and grade control practices to optimize production and minimize ore loss and dilution.
• Proficiency in mine safety regulations, risk management practices, and environmental compliance requirements applicable to mining operations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams, resolve conflicts, and foster a positive work culture.
• Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify operational inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
