Structural Engineer - Madinah

Role Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the design review, construction supervision, technical coordination, and delivery of major high-rise residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and large-scale building developments in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Ensure all structural works are executed in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, Saudi regulations, international standards, and project quality and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design Review & Supervision

• Review and supervise structural construction activities for high-rise and large-scale building projects.
• Ensure structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
• Review structural calculations, shop drawings, and engineering reports.

Site Inspection & Compliance

• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings and quality requirements.
• Review contractor quality records, concrete test results, steel test reports, and inspection documentation.
• Witness critical construction activities including concrete pours, reinforcement inspections, steel erection, and load testing.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure implementation of quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout construction.
• Identify non-conformances and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Review as-built drawings and verify completion of structural works prior to handover.

Technical Coordination & Problem Resolution

• Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, façade, geotechnical, and construction teams to resolve design and site issues.
• Review and resolve structural technical queries and construction-related challenges.
• Conduct constructability reviews and apply risk management principles.

Performance & Schedule Management

• Monitor contractor performance and progress against approved project schedules.
• Support value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs while maintaining structural integrity and safety.

Claims & Changes

• Review structural variations, claims, and change requests for technical compliance.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Support testing, commissioning, snagging, de-snagging, and project handover activities.
• Assist in defect liability period inspections and closeout activities.

Reporting & Coordination

• Participate in design coordination meetings, progress review meetings, and technical workshops.
• Prepare structural inspection reports, technical assessments, and progress reports.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized university.
• Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• 10 to 15 years of professional Structural Engineering experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on major high-rise and large-scale building projects.
• Demonstrated experience in construction supervision, structural inspections, testing, and project handover.
• Experience working with consultants, PMCs, developers, and contractors.
• Understanding of structural integrity assessments, constructability reviews, and risk management principles.
• Familiarity with geotechnical reports, soil investigations, and foundation design coordination.
• Previous Saudi Arabia or GCC experience is highly preferred.

Skills & Certifications

• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), MIStructE, MICE, or equivalent professional certification is highly desirable.
• PMP certification is an advantage.
