Role Overview
Staff DevOps Engineer at Lean Technologies, a fast-growing fintech company building financial data infrastructure for the MENA region. This is a high-impact role operating at the intersection of DevOps, platform engineering, and SRE.

Lean Technologies is a regulated Open Banking and Open Finance company operating across the UAE and Saudi Arabia since 2019. The company has processed billions of dollars in transactions, serves 350+ clients including Tabby, Tasʼheel, and Hungerstation, and is backed by General Catalyst, Sequoia, and Shorooq. Lean has tripled in size over the past twelve months and is on track to triple again, expanding into new markets, launching new products, and operating at increasing scale and complexity.
Role Purpose
You will define and own the infrastructure architecture strategy, reliability, and scalability across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. You will operate at the intersection of DevOps, platform engineering, and SRE, defining how infrastructure is built, operated, and scaled across the company—not just implementing it. This role is critical in ensuring infrastructure can scale securely, reliably, and efficiently to support rapid company growth.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Strategy
- Define and own infrastructure architecture strategy across hybrid cloud (GCP, OCI, on-prem).
- Design and evolve Kubernetes platforms for multi-region scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Establish and drive Infrastructure as Code and GitOps standards across all environments.
- Drive automation strategy across provisioning, scaling, patching, and operations.
Reliability & Performance
- Build and scale observability systems (metrics, logging, tracing) to support proactive reliability.
- Lead efforts to meet and exceed SLA, SLO, and error budget targets.
- Own and improve incident management processes, including postmortems and systemic fixes.
- Champion security, compliance, and reliability best practices (SOC 2, ISO 27001, CIS benchmarks).
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Partner with engineering teams to improve developer experience and platform usability.
- Mentor engineers and act as a technical leader across DevOps and infrastructure domains.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
- Strong experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Deep expertise in Linux systems and internals.
- Deep expertise in networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing, firewalls).
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes (design, operations, and troubleshooting).
- Deep expertise in Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, Go, or similar).
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments (GCP, OCI preferred).
- Experience in fintech or highly regulated environments (desired).
- Strong understanding of multi-region and high-availability architectures (desired).
Skills & Competencies
- CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
- Datastores: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.
- Security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, CIS).
- Performance optimization in distributed systems.
- Exposure to edge and network platforms (e.g., Cloudflare) (desired).
- Service mesh experience (Istio, Linkerd) (desired).
- Strong documentation and runbook culture (desired).
