Role Overview

Senior Planning Engineer at NMDC Group.

Role Purpose

Lead strategic planning, scheduling, and coordination of operational activities to optimize project delivery, resource allocation, and organizational efficiency across mining and steel production operations.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and schedules aligned with operational objectives.
  • Monitor and track project progress against established schedules and milestones.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts and bottlenecks; recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure schedule adherence and timeline accuracy.

Resource Management

  • Allocate resources effectively across projects to maximize utilization and minimize delays.
  • Forecast resource requirements based on project demands and operational needs.
  • Partner with department heads to balance resource availability against project priorities.

Process Optimization

  • Analyze existing planning processes and workflows for efficiency improvements.
  • Implement best practices in project planning and scheduling methodologies.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure planning effectiveness and operational performance.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Report on project status, risks, and performance metrics to senior management.
  • Communicate planning decisions and schedule updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to resolve planning conflicts.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify potential planning risks and develop contingency plans.
  • Escalate critical issues and propose solutions to project leadership.
  • Monitor and document lessons learned from completed projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in planning, scheduling, or project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in mining, steel, or heavy manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and planning software.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in project planning tools and scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Leadership and team coordination capabilities.
  • Knowledge of lean and Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
