Sr. Planning Engineer

Role Overview

Sr. Planning Engineer at ACWA Power. The role ensures effective implementation of efficient work and outage management processes across cluster businesses, driving continuous improvement and optimization to position the fleet within the top quartile globally over the project lifecycle.

Role Purpose

To implement efficient work and outage management processes and execution in each cluster business, drive continuous improvement and optimization of business processes with cost-driven value creation in inventory and maintenance digitalization, and position the fleet within the top quartile globally over the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Performance

• Monitor and report cluster KPIs on monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, highlighting deviations and recording reasons for variance.
• Prepare action plans to close performance gaps in close coordination with each site, ensuring timely corrective action with all concerned cluster stakeholders.
• Ensure cluster business monthly MIS reports are prepared and circulated to all stakeholders, highlighting KPI target achievements.
• Ensure audit observations related to work planning and process within a cluster are properly addressed and closed in time to improve plant performance and customer satisfaction.

Maintenance Planning & Outage Management

• Ensure effective implementation of the Maintenance Strategy including critical assets PM alignment with EPRI, SCD management, and SPOF Mitigation Planning corporate guideline.
• Ensure corporate Maintenance Planning and Scheduling procedure and computerized maintenance management processes are effectively implemented to a prudent maintenance planning regime.
• Drive continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and programs to ensure high level of reliability and resource efficiency within the business.
• Ensure effective Planned Maintenance Optimization program for each asset within the cluster, optimizing resources utilization based on criticality and improving wrench time.
• Conduct analysis of similar assets PM efforts within a cluster and calibrate with other clusters to ensure standardization across fleets, aligning with corporate guideline.
• Conduct periodic cluster assessments to ensure effective maintenance program implementation, execution, and closure with quality records.
• Ensure SPOF and critical equipment spares and BOM availability, supporting cluster business in spares replenishment process in coordination with business and SCM.
• Ensure corporate Outage Management Procedure is effectively implemented across the cluster, complying with KPI at each outage phase.
• Ensure close coordination with NMES to align outage schedule and optimize resource loading within a cluster as applicable.
• Ensure availability of critical spares and sufficient resources are in place and on time as per outage event.
• Coordinate with cluster engineering team to ensure outage TILS, insurance recommendations, ROS enhancement and outage-related jobs are planned adequately.
• Ensure post-outage lessons learned are captured with closure, action plan, and KPI achievement.
• Conduct sessions with cluster finance before and after outage for outage cost variance analyses, improvement action plan and implementation for the next outage as applicable.

New Build & Project Mobilization

• Ensure effective implementation of Project Mobilization and takeover procedure in the cluster business as applicable for new projects.
• Ensure updated mobilization plans within the cluster with regular follow-up, reporting major deviations from agreed plan and mitigation.
• Work with cluster management and new project site teams in development of lifecycle maintenance planning in accordance with OEM recommendation and EPRI PMBD.
• Support respective cluster plant in preparation of master mobilization plan achieving O&M readiness before COD/PCOD.
• Support business in preparation of CMMS master data, aligning with standard including criticality ranking, SCD, and SPOF identification as per corporate procedure.
• Ensure mobilization actions are compiled in given timeframe.
• Coordinate with engineering team to ensure Technical Risk Register review and actions are identified with mitigation plan, timeline, and action owner.

Maintenance Budget & Spares Inventory Improvement

• Guide and ensure effective implementation of maintenance spares with proper material coding at budget preparation to achieve inventory standardization.
• Ensure timely budget preparation including critical assumptions with each site, and review budget with all stakeholders including finance before presenting to management.
• Monitor and report maintenance cost variances versus budget to cluster management, adding value in mitigation action plan to improve financial bottom line.
• Review maintenance cost versus budget with the budget team and advise mitigation to each site to improve financial bottom line.
• Add value to cluster P&L improvement through implementation of effective maintenance strategy and resource utilization.

Policies, Processes, Systems & Procedures

• Ensure effective implementation of approved policies, processes, and procedures as applicable to maintenance and work management.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment

• Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, and a responsible environmental attitude.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
• 7–10 years' experience with some experience in Power or Utilities industry.

Internal & External Working Relationships

• Works closely with Centre of Excellence (CoE) to ensure consistent application of processes across cluster business.
• Collaborates with region cluster management and cluster functional experts: Finance, HR, HSSE team, ERP, and respective cluster plant management.
• Engages with external consultants and contractors for critical services.
