SR DREDGE ELECTRICIAN

Role Overview

Senior Dredge Electrician with NMDC Group, based on a Self-Propelled Cutter Suction Dredger.

Role Purpose

To maintain, repair, and optimize electrical systems and equipment on board the dredger, ensuring safe and efficient operations while providing technical support to the crew.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Inspection

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of electrical systems and equipment on the dredger.
• Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance and repair activities.

Fault Diagnosis & Repair

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and malfunctions promptly, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot issues that arise during dredging operations.

Installation & Commissioning

• Install and commission new electrical systems and equipment as required.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures related to electrical work.
• Conduct regular safety audits and ensure the dredger's electrical systems meet industry standards.

Team Support & Development

• Provide technical support and guidance to junior electricians and other crew members.
• Collaborate with the dredging team to optimize electrical systems for efficient dredging operations.

Technical Excellence

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in dredging electrical technology and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician, with a focus on marine or dredging electrical systems.
• A recognized electrical engineering degree or diploma, or equivalent industry certifications.
• Valid certifications in marine electrical safety practices and procedures.
• Experience with marine electrical equipment and dredging operations is highly preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with the crew.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and sometimes challenging marine environment.
