SR COMMISSIONING ENGINEER

Role Overview

Senior Commissioning Engineer at NMDC Group. This role is responsible for ensuring that commissioning tasks assigned are properly implemented according to work standards and procedures.

Role Purpose

Lead and execute commissioning activities for instrument and control systems, delivering detailed testing reports and comprehensive documentation while ensuring full compliance with HSE standards and project scope requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning Execution

• Organize and perform instrument commissioning activities, including SAT/Loop test and functional test.
• Implement and test subsystems as per project commissioning test sheets.
• Prepare, write and deliver suitable and comprehensive testing procedures when required.
• Provide detailed testing reports and relevant documentation on all testing completed.
• Ensure temporary supplies and commissioning spares are adequate for subsystem testing.

Control Systems & Technical Work

• Work on control systems including advanced process control (APC), distributed control system (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and emergency shut down system (ESD).
• Apply knowledge of control strategy and control theory including PI/PID, cascade, split range control, and alarm management.
• Interpret and utilize instrumentation documentation including control narratives, cause and effect chart diagrams, P&ID, loop diagrams, and logic block diagrams.

Team Leadership & Coordination

• Lead a team to undertake commissioning activities in small projects.
• Interface with other disciplines to ensure integration of activities.
• Perform inter-discipline checks.
• Interface with pre-commissioning and company personnel.

Planning & Monitoring

• Receive project documentation and understand scope of work related to the discipline.
• Prepare method statements, procedures and routines where required.
• Plan, monitor and assist in vendor activities as required.
• Report on work progress, bringing to notice potential problems or delays and recommending solutions.
• Assist during database preparation for pre-commissioning status index and commissioning technical database.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure that all PPE, PTW and HSE requirements are adhered to when at worksite.
• Maintain compliance in accordance with HSE standard.

Reporting Structure

• Report to Commissioning Team Leader as per project organization chart.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Instrument Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience within the oil and gas industry.
• At least 4 years in a key role in commissioning.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to organize and execute instrument commissioning activities.
• Proficiency with control systems: APC, DCS, PLC, ESD.
• Knowledge of control strategy and control theory.
• Ability to interpret and work from instrumentation documentation.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive testing procedures.
