Role Overview

Specialized Engineer - Energy & Sustainability at Transguard Group, Total Facilities Management team, Dubai.

Role Purpose

Support the Energy & Sustainability Manager in implementing the organization's sustainability and energy initiatives through research, analysis, energy audits, utility monitoring, and efficiency improvement projects. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international sustainability standards while identifying opportunities to reduce resource consumption.

Key Responsibilities

Energy & Utility Management

• Develop and support energy management strategies and policies to ensure efficient use of utilities, including electricity, water, sewage, and waste.
• Conduct energy, water, and waste audits in line with Energy and Environmental Policies, preparing detailed reports and action plans for utility consumption reduction.
• Perform ASHRAE Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Energy Audits to identify efficiency opportunities and recommend improvements.
• Establish utility consumption baselines, conduct benchmarking against industry standards, and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
• Monitor asset performance and support energy and water management strategies.

Financial Analysis & Budgeting

• Identify and implement energy, water, and sustainability initiatives to achieve cost savings.
• Conduct financial analysis of energy conservation measures, including ROI, payback period, and life-cycle cost assessments.
• Track and verify savings from energy efficiency and sustainability projects.
• Support preparation of project budgets, business cases, and capital expenditure proposals.
• Review and validate utility bills and monitor utility expenditure trends.
• Support procurement and technical evaluation of energy-efficient equipment and systems.
• Contribute to annual energy and sustainability cost reduction targets.

Project Implementation & Verification

• Lead energy and water conservation projects from business case development through implementation.
• Support feasibility studies, establish project requirements, and provide technical expertise for energy and utility management solutions.
• Perform Measurement & Verification of savings and performance.
• Coordinate with facility teams, contractors, and vendors for implementation of improvement projects.
• Provide bid support and client presentations.

Compliance & Reporting

• Conduct carbon accounting and audits covering Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
• Monitor utility and emissions data, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent reporting for performance review and decision-making.
• Collaborate with facility managers, property managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with energy management policies.
• Deliver training and awareness programs on energy management.

Stakeholder & Client Management

• Serve as technical focal point for clients on energy and sustainability-related matters.
• Prepare and present energy performance, sustainability, ESG, and utility reports to stakeholders.
• Conduct site assessments, energy audits, and sustainability reviews for client facilities.
• Support clients in achieving sustainability certifications, regulatory compliance, and energy management objectives.
• Respond to customer queries and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive engagement and performance reporting.
• Support development of new sustainability services, tools, and performance optimization strategies.

Innovation & Technology

• Identify and evaluate innovative technologies related to energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability.
• Support deployment of smart metering, IoT, AI-driven analytics, and digital energy management solutions.
• Research emerging industry trends, best practices, and sustainability technologies.
• Develop data-driven dashboards and automated reporting solutions.
• Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence through innovative solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduation in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities Management, Sustainability, Environmental, or CSR).
• LEED GA Certified; LEED AP preferred.
• CMVP, CEA, CEM, or CAP certification preferred.
• Previous experience in Sustainability & Energy Industry.
• Carbon auditing, emissions reporting, and familiarity with sustainability reporting standards and frameworks.
• Prior knowledge of LEED and Green Building Guidelines.

Additional Information
