Role Overview
Specialist, Smart Field (Surface Facilities) at ADNOC.
Role Purpose
Provide technical expertise in coordination with Field Development Division to optimize oil and gas field production and reservoir recovery through real-time dynamic modelling, effective monitoring, balanced injection and production processes, and smart well completions to improve well surveillance.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Oil Field Strategy & Technology
- Prepare technical background and summaries related to Digital Oil Field (DOF) concept for specific operational issues as assigned.
- Identify and participate in the development of new technologies and solutions to improve operations practices.
- Evaluate new technologies, select and recommend viable and appropriate solutions for implementation.
- Initiate project Terms of Reference (TOR) and Scope of Work (SOW) for DOF applications.
- Carry out technical evaluation for DOF projects.
- Map out key production management processes and identify tools and data required to optimize processes.
Field Operations & Optimization
- Support DOF programme related to rigless operations, testing and stimulation to ensure optimization of oil and gas producing wells, water supply and water or gas injection wells.
- Participate in the commissioning and implementation of field trials, including monitoring testing activities, evaluating performance and operational results, drafting evaluation reports and recommendations.
- Survey the market and identify the most promising gas lift optimization techniques.
- Plan and implement pilot studies for proof of concept and propose wide application if successful.
- Identify with Petroleum Development units the use of downhole pressure, temperature, flow rate and downhole control valve to support the DOF concept in all fields.
- Provide necessary advice on remote monitoring, control and surveillance tools required for reservoir management and optimization of oil production, gas lift and gas injection.
Supervision & Team Development
- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job.
Budget & Financial Management
- Provide input for preparation of Unit or Divisional budgets and assist in the implementation of approved budgets and work plans to deliver objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Implement approved Unit or Divisional policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in line with Company and International standards.
- Contribute to the achievement of approved Performance Objectives for the Unit or Division in line with Innovation and Continuous Improvement.
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency.
Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability
- Comply with ADNOC Onshore or ADNOC HSE procedure requirements.
- Report all incidents and occupational illness to line supervisor.
- Consult line supervisor immediately if aware of any unsafe practice or condition or in doubt about the safety of any situation.
- Carry out emergency responsibilities in line with respective roles as per emergency procedures.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
- Maintain frequent contacts with technical units, Field Operations and support units.
- Maintain regular contacts with Services providers, Suppliers, Contractors, manufacturers, ADNOC and other OPCOs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in petroleum engineering including workover, completion, well testing and production operations.
