Specialist Physician - Radiology (SEHA Clinics)

Role Overview

Specialist Physician - Radiology with SEHA Clinics. The post holder delivers high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care and serves as an example of clinical excellence within the Division while contributing to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.

Role Purpose

To diagnose and treat patients according to established standards of best practice for Radiology under the supervision of the Consultant Physician, while supporting departmental initiatives, quality improvement, and the development of junior medical staff.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Delivery

• Diagnose and treat patients according to established standards of best practice for Radiology specialty.
• Lead ward rounds and reassess both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis in line with established best practice.
• Accept clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk-in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals.
• Ensure preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent.
• Regularly review results of all investigations and modify treatment as required.
• Communicate clinical information to patients and the patient's family and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely manner.
• Maintain a good working relationship with members of staff and promote collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care.

Supervision & Training

• Assist the Consultant Physician in supervising the activities of junior medical staff and jointly assume responsibility for the care they provide.
• Promote and participate in instruction, guidance and supervision of junior medical staff.
• Actively participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients.

Compliance & Documentation

• Comply with all hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow-up practices.
• Accurately document all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
• Practice appropriate utilization of the organization's resources.

Managerial & Administration

• Support and adhere to all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
• Support and participate in the organization's performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
• Assist Consultant staff in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times.
• Attend Divisional meetings as invited.
• Support the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents.
• Assume other administrative or clinical duties as requested by Consultant Staff.
• Liaise with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
• Participate in and support the Consultant Physician in ensuring the provision of out-of-hours (on-call) coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as required.

Quality & Safety

• Support quality improvement initiatives within the Division.
• Support a culture of regular audit and encourage the use of audit results for improving clinical practice.
• Support the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents.

Education & Professional Development

• Promote and participate in clinical research and publication.
• Keep abreast of current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Special Certificate

• Tier 1: No additional experience required post board certification (applicable to general applicants and UAE nationals).
• Tier 2: Minimum 2 years of clinical experience post qualification in internationally accredited institute (applicable to non-UAE nationals not enrolled in HAAD accredited residency programs). For UAE nationals and non-UAE nationals enrolled in HAAD accredited residency programs, no additional experience required post board certification.
• Tier 3: Minimum 3 years clinical experience as Specialist post qualification in internationally accredited institute.
