Role Overview

Specialist, Drilling (Coiled Tubing) at ADNOC. The role manages lump sum turnkey drilling campaigns, unconventional drilling and testing activities, project cost control, and rig scheduling.

Role Purpose

Set and manage lump sum turnkey campaign scope of work with all related activities. Manage unconventional drilling and testing activities including UBD, MLT, and multi-stage frac. Manage project cost control and rig schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Drilling Operations & Project Management

• Report and update drilling and well operations activities related to the Biogenic Shallow Gas project to ensure conformity with plan and program.
• Lead and direct the Drilling Integrated Project Management teams of assigned service companies to execute ADNOC Exploration Biogenic Gas wells in line with plans.
• Endorse and approve drilling programs and well plans provided by the LSTK/IPM teams.
• Endorse and approve the AFE for the subjected wells.
• Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.

Strategy & Planning

• Define the Full Field Development Plans and exploration requirements through close collaboration with Petroleum Engineers, Reservoir Engineers and Petrophysicists.
• Advise the Exploration Function on all drilling-related matters in terms of planning, well prognosis and technical requirements.
• Contribute to the achievement of approved Performance Objectives for the Function/Division/Department/Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
• Provide input for preparation of Function/Division/Department/Section budgets and assist in implementation of approved budgets and work plans to deliver business objectives.

Team Development & Supervision

• Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver respective business objectives.

Financial & Performance Management

• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Governance, Standards & Compliance

• Implement approved Function/Division/Department/Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures to support execution of work programs in line with Company and International standards.
• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Reporting

• Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years related experience in Drilling/Workover Engineering and Operations.
• Previous experience with the OPCOs, preferred in UAE.
• Experience from both offshore and onshore rig activities and office-based roles.
• Experience in drilling new technologies including UBD, MPD, CTD and ERD.
• Experience in business planning for wells and drilling operations.
• Proven track record of leading drilling teams in operations or engineering roles.
• Professional certifications as applicable.

Skills & Competencies

• Professional user of drilling software; Landmark package preferred.

Internal & External Working Relationships

• Daily contact with members in Exploration and Drilling.
• Frequent contact with other upstream Divisions regarding drilling operations.
• Frequent contact with JVs, OPCOs, ADNOC Drilling and SPC drilling staff to discuss daily operations.
• Frequent contact with drilling service providers and rig equipment manufacturers.
• Regular contact with external drilling service providers.

• Work Environment: Air-conditioned environment. Could be exposed to prevailing weather conditions including heat, humidity and dust during occasional site visits.
