Role Purpose
Conduct detailed credit assessment and approval of credit applications for business or investment financing secured against residential and/or commercial real estate. Determine borrower eligibility for financing and ensure the requested credit facility aligns with the bank's risk appetite and Target Market Risk Acceptance Criteria (TM-RAC). Manage allocated client portfolios through ongoing monitoring, annual reviews, and engagement with business counterparts to address credit-related issues while maintaining high underwriting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment & Analysis
- Review, analyse and recommend loan proposals in accordance with approved credit policies, procedures and market dynamics to produce high-quality credit assessment memos for underwriting purposes.
- Analyse client audited financial statements, bank statements, Rental Roll Reports and collateral details to meet the bank's lending standards.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of borrower financial ratios including profitability, solvency, cash flow and debt service coverage ratios to ensure error-free underwriting and sufficient repayment capacity.
- Work out credit risk rating and check RAROC of the customer as per the bank's portals.
- Analyse Client's credit history, credit reports and system checks.
Portfolio Management & Monitoring
- Manage the allocated portfolio of clients in terms of timely annual reviews, monitoring delinquencies, early warnings, adherence to covenants and documentary deferrals.
- Actively engage with respective business counterparts on a regular basis to address credit-related issues for the allocated portfolio.
- Review excess rental release requests from clients after reviewing the rental register and rental collection account.
Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Actively engage with senior business counterparts including Area Managers and Executive Directors to ensure proposed facilities are adequately structured to meet client expectations within the bank's underwriting standards.
- Accompany business counterparts to client meetings to develop better understanding of the client and proposed credit facility.
- Work in coordination with other stakeholders such as Credit Administration, Collections and Operations.
- Take up non-compliance of terms and conditions with business.
Restructuring & Deferral Management
- Review and analyse restructuring requests from existing loan customers and recommend in line with the bank's policy and TM-RAC.
- Review and approve deferral or waiver requests given by existing customers and recommend keeping in mind the credit risk involved.
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation submitted with credit requests to avoid fraud and/or delinquency in the future.
- Ensure that all approved loans and proposal-related documents are complete and stored in the common folder/system to safeguard against missing or misplaced documents.
- Adhere to and comply with departmental policies, standard operating procedures and practices.
- Exhibit consistency with organization's values and ethics at all times to demonstrate a value-driven culture within the bank.
- Have in-depth understanding of regulatory and internal bank policies.
Process & Administrative Management
- Process loan applications and service requests efficiently and within agreed SLAs.
- Ensure completion and maintenance of required departmental MIS on an ongoing basis.
- Contribute towards continuous improvement and sustainability of policies, systems, processes and methods in line with changing needs and requirements.
General Duties
- Exhibit good communication and writing skills when preparing and submitting credit proposals to approving authorities within the bank.
- Demonstrate ability to work in pressure conditions without compromising on credit underwriting quality.
- Perform any additional job-related tasks and projects as assigned by Line Manager.
- Operate within the framework of Group Credit β Business Banking and applicable policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Banking or Commerce.
- Minimum 5β7 years of experience in Corporate/SME Credit or Banking.
