Role Overview

Specialist - Contracts at NMC Healthcare. Reporting to the Associate Vice President – Indirect Procurement (Supply Chain), this role is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and amending a wide range of procurement contracts and related documentation.

Role Purpose

The Contract Specialist ensures contracts adhere to legal, policy, and governance standards while enabling operational execution across indirect procurement activities. The role supports contract lifecycle management in close collaboration with internal stakeholders but does not extend to commercial negotiations or budget decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Drafting and Review

  • Draft, review and finalize contracts, memoranda of understanding, and heads of terms while ensuring reasoned risk allocation and protection of the business' commercial, legal and reputational interests.
  • Draft and amend procurement-related contracts, MoUs, NDAs, and other commercial agreements in line with company policies and templates.
  • Review draft contracts from business stakeholders and incorporate appropriate revisions for clarity, consistency, and compliance.

Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure alignment of contractual documents with internal governance standards, regulatory requirements, and legal risk management practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UAE contracting practices, including ADGM and onshore legal frameworks relevant to procurement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations and introductions of new UAE laws.
  • Develop and present to the business on key legal, risk management and contracting topics.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with Legal and Compliance teams where needed, particularly in complex or escalated matters.
  • Assist in resolving contract-related disputes, working closely with Procurement and Legal to ensure prompt and effective resolutions.
  • Share signed documents with related parties.

Contract Administration and Reporting

  • Track and maintain a central repository of executed contracts and proactively flag expiry or renewal timelines.
  • Provide regular reports to Indirect Procurement leadership on contract cycle status, outstanding reviews, and risk areas.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience in contract drafting, reviewing, and governance, preferably within a procurement or shared services function.
  • Candidates with more professional qualification experience will not be discounted.
  • In-house and healthcare industry experience advantageous.
  • UAE or wider GCC work experience preferred.
  • Some experience negotiating commercial contracts preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • High working proficiency in spoken and written Arabic desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communicator, presenter and collaborator who can simplify complex issues to lay colleagues.
  • Good ability and willingness to quickly upskill on UAE laws, including ADGM laws.
  • Awareness of key issues in commercial contracts.
  • Ability to manage execution processes for legal documentation.
  • Highly organized and goal oriented, with a can-do attitude.
  • High proficiency with MS Office, including PowerPoint.
  • Healthcare industry experience helpful but not essential.
  • Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced, multi-cultural, multi-stakeholder large corporate environment.
