Role Purpose

The Senior Principal E&M Specialist solves complex, cross-functional problems that broadly impact business direction and resource allocation in Equipment & Machinery for marine operations. The role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to anticipate business and regulatory challenges, develop innovative solutions, and provide expert guidance across marine engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Subject Matter Expertise

• Serve as the subject matter expert in the marine function for equipment and machinery.
• Apply advanced knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices to oversee equipment and machinery used for marine operations.
• Anticipate internal and external business challenges and regulatory issues and recommend process, product, or service improvements.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Analyze, interpret, and provide recommendations on marine regulations, standards, and guidelines to ensure compliance and the smooth progress of projects.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to ensure the safe and efficient execution of marine operations.
• Monitor equipment and machinery performance, identify potential issues, and take proactive measures to mitigate risks, optimize performance, and ensure project readiness within defined parameters.

Technical Strategy & Design

• Assist in the development of technical and functional specification for new or modification of equipment and machinery.
• Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance and repair strategies, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues in marine systems, offering practical solutions and ensuring minimal downtime.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Lead marine teams and coordinate with cross-functional teams to strategize, plan, and execute marine-related aspects of projects, while adhering to project timelines and budgets.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to identify marine-specific challenges and develop effective strategies for resolution.
• Oversee the selection, evaluation, and management of marine contractors and vendors, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver quality services.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and achieve project objectives and operations.

Project Support

• Provide technical support to multidisciplinary teams throughout the project and asset lifecycle, addressing any E&M-related queries or challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in marine engineering with expertise in marine operations, EPCI projects, and offshore activities.
• In-depth knowledge of marine regulations, standards, and guidelines, with the ability to interpret and translate them into practical solutions.
• Strong expertise in marine electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to guide projects while ensuring quality, safety, and budget adherence.
