Senior Network Engineer / Administrator

Role Overview

Senior Network Engineer / Administrator at American Hospital Dubai. This role ensures the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services across the organization.

Role Purpose

Plan, design, develop, and maintain local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) while overseeing installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communications. Analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training where required.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration & Maintenance

• Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Huawei, FortiGate, Avaya, IBM, Cisco, HP, Nortel, and Dell network equipment.
• Oversee, maintain, and troubleshoot network and internet connectivity throughout the organization.
• Execute monthly change and backup procedures of network devices.
• Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, requiring continuous learning of new devices.

Network Security & Policy

• Develop, implement, and maintain corporate network and security policies.
• Perform Local Area Network (LAN), Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and internet-facing security scanning of mission-critical devices on the corporate and guest networks for potential vulnerabilities and malicious programs, and recommend appropriate actions.
• Design and implement security policies using Access Control Lists (ACLs) for internal and WAN communication.
• Configure and manage perimeter and internal firewalls in redundant active mode for 100% network availability.

Infrastructure Design & Implementation

• Support IT network infrastructure, security, design, testing, and inspection of data and voice communications systems.
• Implement and publish various types of servers (WebServer, FTP Server, Email Server) using Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port Address Translation (PAT).
• Route internet traffic through different connections using Policy-Based Routing (PBR) and Network Address Translation (NAT) for security purposes.
• Configure IPSEC VPN tunnels for branch office connectivity and remote vendor management with two-factor authentication.

Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor all network devices, services, and servers using SolarWinds and Fortinet Analyzer to ensure high availability and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Collect and review network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes.
• Optimize network performance and reduce operational costs.

Technology Evaluation & Deployment

• Research, evaluate, and recommend technologies to support business requirements.
• Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure.

Stakeholder Coordination & Support

• Coordinate with users and vendors for new project implementations and existing network infrastructure support.
• Attend calls from the Help Desk for level 2 and level 3 support.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum four to six years of experience in Network Administration/Engineering.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate Certificate (CCNA).
• Cisco Certified Network Professional Enterprise Certificate (CCNP).
• Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing and Switching Certificate (CCNP RS).
• Cisco Certified Specialist - Data Centre Core Certificate (DCCC).
• Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise Advanced Infrastructure Implementation Certificate (EAIIC).
• Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise Core Certificate (ECC).
• Huawei HCIP R&S Certification (HCIP).
• Fortinet's Network Security Expert Certification (NSE-1).
• Fortinet's Network Security Expert Certification (NSE-2).
• Certified Network Security Specialist (CNSS).
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).

Skills & Competencies

• Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and frameworks.
• Design Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and intranets.
• Deep knowledge of network technologies, architecture, and in-depth network security.
• Configure and maintain Cisco ASA 5520 firewalls.
• Configure Fortinet firewalls 1000D, 200E, 401E, 501E, 600E, 3000D, and 3200D with Fortinet Analyzer.
• Configure Huawei switches S5730HI, S5720, CE6810, S6720, S12708, AR2240C.
• Implement and maintain L2 technologies including VLANs, VTP, trunking, EtherChannel, and STP inter-VLAN routing.
• Configure and maintain Huawei/Cisco wireless LAN controllers 8500, AC6605-26-PWR and 500+ Huawei/Cisco access points.
• Manage Antlabs HSIA Wi-Fi profiling device for wireless guest access and Huawei Agile controller for AD authentication.
• Configure, manage, implement, and troubleshoot multiple protocols and standards: TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VLAN, NAT, VPN, VTP, and STP.
• Design and implement security policies using Access Control Lists (ACLs).
• Design, implement, and support Avaya Communication Manager (CM) and IP phones.
• Provide L2 and L3 network support as per client requirements.
• Manage Fortinet firewalls for URL filtering and data leakage prevention.
• Speak and write English fluently.
