Role Overview
Senior General Accountant at Burjline Builders. The role oversees and supports day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing activities, and audit requirements.
Role Purpose
To maintain accurate financial records, lead closing activities, manage reconciliations, and ensure compliance with accounting standards while supporting internal stakeholders and audit functions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Records and Transactions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounting documentation.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Manage and review Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions.
Reconciliations and Cash Management
- Perform and review bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Period-End Closing and Reporting
- Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare and assist with monthly financial statements, management reports, and financial analysis.
- Identify accounting discrepancies, investigate variances, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
Audit and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
Departmental Coordination and Process Improvement
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and finance-related matters.
- Monitor departmental expenses and support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control activities.
- Contribute to improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
Supervision and General Duties
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff where required.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in General Accounting, preferably in a structured corporate environment in Qatar.
- Experience handling AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Native-level Arabic and English proficiency required.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
