Senior Estimator - MEP at AtkinsRéalis. An experienced estimator with 10 years of quantity surveying and cost estimating expertise, specializing in large-scale infrastructure and civil engineering projects, including pre-contract cost planning, Bills of Quantities preparation, and procurement strategy development.

Role Purpose
Lead the preparation of pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans, and benchmarking for large-scale infrastructure projects. Develop and manage Bills of Quantities and pre-tender estimates using CESSM and industry standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment between design intent and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Estimation
- Lead the preparation of pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans, and benchmarking for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Develop and manage Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and pre-tender estimates using CESSM and other industry standards.
- Deliver accurate cost estimates and risk assessments aligned with project requirements.
Procurement & Strategy
- Support the development of procurement strategies, including packaging, tendering, and contract formation.
- Conduct market analysis and engage with supply chain to inform cost data and procurement planning.
- Prepare and review tender documentation, including pricing schedules and contract conditions.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Risk Management
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment between design intent and cost objectives.
- Assist in risk and value management and cost control functions.
- Assist in identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
- Attend and represent the organization at commercial meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in cost management within the construction industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong background in pre-contract quantity surveying for infrastructure and civil engineering projects including masterplanning.
- Preference for major international events experience (e.g. expos, sports events, cultural festivals).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of CESSM and industry-standard estimating practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Good project background and proven English language technical writing ability and skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
