Role Purpose

The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer is responsible for preparing, checking, reviewing, and technically developing civil and structural engineering calculations for oil and gas and industrial projects. The role requires the ability to independently develop technically robust design solutions, prepare detailed calculations, and provide engineering justification in accordance with project specifications and applicable international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Calculations

• Prepare complete and accurate civil and structural calculations for steel structures including pipe racks, shelters, platforms, equipment supports, and buildings.
• Prepare calculations for concrete structures and foundations including equipment foundations, pile caps, rafts, pedestals, and retaining walls.
• Undertake dynamic and static analysis of structures and equipment supports.
• Prepare calculations for underground facilities, culverts, trenches, roads and paving.
• Develop calculations for both new-build and modification/revamp projects.

Technical Review and Assurance

• Review existing structures and assess their suitability for new or modified loading conditions.
• Review calculations prepared by engineers and designers and provide technical guidance where required.
• Ensure all calculations comply with relevant international codes and standards including AISC, ACI, BS, Eurocodes, ASCE, and API, and with client specifications such as ADNOC, ARAMCO or equivalent.

Coordination

• Ensure calculations are coordinated with drawings, specifications, equipment data, piping requirements, and other discipline inputs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 10–12 years of experience in Civil/Structural engineering within the oil and gas or petrochemical sector.
• Proven experience across FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, Construction support, and brownfield modification phases.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering, or a related discipline (considered an advantage).

Skills & Competencies

• Strong working knowledge of onshore oil and gas Civil and Structural design including foundations (raft and pile design), drainage systems, steel and RC structures, pipe racks, and equipment support structures.
• Proficiency with design software: STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, Mat3d, and ETABS.
• Strong technical leadership and engineering assurance capability.
• Risk identification and quality control expertise.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
