Senior BI Engineer - (Tableau Developer)

Role Overview

Senior BI Engineer – Tableau Developer at GSSTech Group. This role supports Digital Products & Data & Analytics initiatives within the Data Engineering chapter.

Role Purpose

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Tableau solutions that transform complex business data into intuitive, scalable, and actionable dashboards. Work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and data engineers to deliver high-quality analytics solutions supporting strategic and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Dashboard & Workbook Development

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Tableau dashboards, workbooks, and data sources.
• Build interactive, visually compelling, and high-performing dashboards that enable business users to make data-driven decisions.
• Develop and optimize Calculated Fields, Level of Detail (LOD) Expressions, Table Calculations, Parameters, and Dashboard Actions.
• Ensure dashboards follow enterprise visualization standards, accessibility guidelines, and Tableau best practices.

Data Modelling & Integration

• Design efficient Tableau data models aligned with business and analytical requirements.
• Connect Tableau to multiple data sources including SQL databases, Live Connections, Tableau Extracts, and Enterprise Data Warehouses.
• Blend and integrate multiple data sources while ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and freshness.
• Write optimized SQL queries to support Tableau reporting and analytical workloads.

Security & Governance

• Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS), User Permissions, Data Governance, and Secure Data Access.
• Ensure strong understanding of enterprise reporting and dashboard governance.

Content Management & Administration

• Publish, maintain, and manage Tableau content on Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud.
• Configure schedules, refreshes, permissions, and version control in accordance with enterprise governance standards.

Performance & Optimization

• Optimize dashboard performance through efficient calculations, query tuning, and workbook design.
• Troubleshoot reporting issues, optimize performance, and provide production support for Tableau solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers to improve upstream data pipelines and reporting performance.

Asset Development & Reusability

• Contribute reusable Tableau assets including Dashboard Templates, Custom Themes, Colour Palettes, Custom Shapes, and Reusable Components.

Agile Delivery

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.

Qualifications & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, or Analytics Engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on Tableau development experience within an enterprise environment.
• Experience working with large-scale enterprise reporting platforms.
• Experience supporting Digital Products, Enterprise Analytics, or Data Engineering initiatives.
• Exposure to cloud-based BI platforms and modern analytics ecosystems is an advantage.
