Role Overview
Scheduling Control Section Head at HILL International. This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing all project scheduling, control, and planning functions across the organization.
Role Purpose
To develop, implement, and maintain project schedules using industry-standard software while leading a scheduling control team, ensuring all projects adhere to approved timelines, budgets, and quality standards through proactive monitoring, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Development & Control
- Develop, implement, and maintain project schedules using industry-standard software.
- Perform, monitor, and review planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis in the field and home office.
- Demonstrate ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor and track project progress, ensuring adherence to schedule milestones.
- Provide regular reports and updates on project schedules to management and stakeholders.
- Write ad hoc reports on project progress as required.
- Attend and schedule meetings as required.
Risk & Performance Management
- Identify and analyze potential risks and delays, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Observe existing processes, analyze staff performance, and address deficiencies accordingly.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time and within budgets.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and up-to-date project schedules.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize project schedules and resource allocation.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Understand and meet all contract requirements.
- Inform themselves of relevant Quality, Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Policies, Manuals and Procedures within HILL International, and ensure continued compliance with these requirements.
Team Leadership
- Train and mentor scheduling control staff.
- Lead the section and allocate workload to team.
- Provide supervision and personnel administration to technical and non-technical personnel.
Professional Development
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in project scheduling and control.
General
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager or supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 20 years' experience in planning and scheduling, including having worked as the scheduling manager on large-scale projects.
- Experience performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions in both field and home office environments.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Professional user of scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and EPPM platform.
- High level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical planning and scheduling skills, engineering design, construction, and procurement practices.
- Skilled in verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
