SANDFILL OPERATOR

Role Overview

NMDC Group is seeking a Sandfill Operator to join the Reclamation team. This role involves operating heavy machinery for dredging and reclamation projects, ensuring efficient and safe operations on-site.

Role Purpose

To assist in executing dredging activities related to dredging, reclamation and civil marine projects within deadline and budget. The role requires maintaining high quality, safety and environmental standards while focusing on NMDC's business priorities and meeting customer demands.

Key Responsibilities

Dredging & Reclamation Operations

• Assist in executing dredging activities related to dredging, reclamation and civil marine projects within deadline and budget available.
• Assist in placing shore anchors from dredger to shore, and pumping and sandfill area.
• Ensure that works assigned are executed safely and without risks for health, quality and environment according to company requirements.
• Execute work in accordance with local environmental prescriptions and regulations.
• Prevent delays and interruptions by complying with and enforcing codes.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Inspect and perform equipment daily basic maintenance and supplies such as lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Perform pre and post trip inspections.
• Ensure equipment cleanliness and keep equipment in good working order.
• Tell the employer or supervisor about any known missing or defective equipment or protective device that may be dangerous.
• Use any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer.
• Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the employer or by regulations.

Safety & Health Compliance

• Ensure that works assigned are executed safely and without risks for health, quality and environment.
• Ensure a sound understanding of issues involving ground disturbance.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Implement safety policies and procedures for effective and efficient functioning of the team and its operations.
• Work in compliance with HSE regulations.
• Report accidents or particular events as per standards.
• Report any known workplace hazard or violation of the Act to the employer or supervisor.
• Active participation in the safety program is a condition of employment in order to achieve safer working environment.

Coordination & Site Management

• Close coordination with Sandfill Master or Supervisor on everything required to perform tasks properly.
• Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area.
• Maintain cleanliness of the site and work environment and abide by health and safety rules.
• Perform other tasks as instructed by site foremen or supervisor.

General Accountability

• Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
• Maintain a generalist view of assigned job; at times you will be asked to do above and beyond the scope of this role due to operational and technical requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Secondary School Certificate with a discipline-specific technical qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 04 years of relevant experience in a similar industry.
• Personal Survival and Fire Fighting and First Aid Qualification (Basic Safety Training Certificates) STCW.
• Risk Assessment and PTW qualification.
