Role Overview
Roads Inspector at AtkinsRéalis, monitoring and inspecting all phases of road construction activities to ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, materials, and safety procedures.

Role Purpose
The Roads Inspector ensures full compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements across all phases of road construction, from excavation through asphalt placement, and verifies the integrity of ancillary systems and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Inspections
- Inspect road construction works including excavation, grading, subgrade, GSB, sub-base, basecourse, and asphalt layers.
- Verify compliance with material specifications and test results for soil, aggregates, and asphalt.
- Inspect drainage systems, kerbs, duct banks, utility crossings, and manholes.
Safety & Traffic Management
- Monitor traffic management setups and detours to ensure road user safety.
- Verify workmanship quality and safety in active road zones.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Prepare inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure proper implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Participate in joint inspections with contractors, consultants, and clients.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 10 years of relevant experience in road inspection.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of road construction materials and specifications.
- Good technical observation and documentation skills.
