Role Overview

Risk & Underwriting Analyst at Cigna, based in Dubai. This role reports directly to the Underwriting Manager and is part of Cigna Global Healthcare Benefits' growing Middle East Underwriting team during a period of strategic change.

Role Purpose

To conduct fundamental risk analysis, rate development, and pricing while delivering consultative underwriting that drives profitable growth, persistency, and earnings. The successful candidate will make effective decisions within underwriting authority, leveraging strong financial knowledge and predictive techniques to assess future risk exposure and manage a portfolio of SME and large corporate accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Account Management

• Evaluate, price and build insurance plans for SME and large corporations in line with organizational and market strategy.
• Manage portfolio of accounts, balancing long-term profitability, persistency and growth.
• Conduct analytical reviews to identify and understand trends, patterns and insights that are used to successfully manage portfolio.
• Work closely with sales and client management to win and retain business.

Pricing & Rate Development

• Conduct in-depth analysis and pricing of renewal portfolio, working with relevant sales representatives, brokers and clients to implement required rating actions.
• Maintain strong relationships with finance and actuarial teams to ensure the effectiveness of pricing strategies and models.

Risk Analysis & Compliance

• Provide concise, clear and decisive instructions on risk exposure.
• Investigate any non-compliance of benefit adjudication and liaise with appropriate managers to ensure compliance.
• Work closely with operations and clinical teams to ensure the appropriate use of products.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

• Be market aware; understand the competition, the environment and customer needs.
• Provide accurately and timely underwriting metrics to the Underwriting Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or closely related field.
• Up to 5 years' working experience.
• Passion for analytics with proven experience.
• Knowledge of the health insurance industry is preferable.
• Pursuit of professional qualifications or continued development will be viewed favorably.
