Role Purpose

Lead organization-wide readiness and business continuity initiatives by providing management and oversight of planning, organizing, educating, and training for emergency response capabilities, while ensuring effective business continuity management systems are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Management

• Develop and manage an effective readiness and continuity program.
• Report on program metrics in accordance with established reporting schedules.
• Manage and coordinate the Readiness and Continuity team work streams.
• Manage and oversee the execution of the Readiness and Continuity Program.

Governance & Committee Oversight

• Manage and coordinate the activities of the Readiness and Continuity Committee and its SubCommittees and Task Forces.
• Oversee the maintenance of the Hospital Incident Command System and Incident Command Center.

Emergency Response & Operations

• Facilitate actual emergency response activities and decisions in accordance with developed and approved response plans.
• Review and monitor all activities in relation to Emergency Management and the Business Continuity Management System.
• Oversee the implementation of improvement action plans and initiatives.

Training & Education

• Develop and maintain organization-wide training and education in relation to readiness and continuity.

Budget & Resource Planning

• Develop and monitor short-term and long-term readiness and continuity program budgets and resource forecasts.

Stakeholder Management

• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, key community partners, regulatory authorities, and accreditation bodies.

Strategic Alignment

• Support and enhance the vision and mission of the Protective Services Department and SSMC.
• Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, and programs within the department.

Team Management

• Evaluate and prepare annual performance appraisals for subordinate employees.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• 7-9 years of relevant progressive experience in a similar role.
• 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as law, emergency management, occupational health, safety, environment, OR Diploma in a relevant field with 7 years of additional experience.

Desired

• Experience in a large healthcare facility.
• Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
