Role Overview

QHSE Officer at Al Ghurair. The ideal candidate identifies workplace hazards, maintains ISO certifications, and ensures compliance with environmental laws to protect employees and the business.

Role Purpose

Audit, train, and guide teams to establish a culture of safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Standards

• Maintain compliance with ISO standards specialized for the industry, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 29001 (Oil & Gas quality management).
• Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) daily.

Safety Operations & Inspections

• Conduct regular safety inspections of high-risk tasks, including confined space entries, working at heights, lifting operations, and hot works.
• Audit asset integrity parameters, checking safety-critical elements like gas detection systems, emergency shutdown (ESD) valves, and fire suppression systems.

Incident & Investigation Management

• Lead incident investigations using advanced methods like Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or TapRooT, and track corrective actions.

Emergency Response

• Manage emergency response protocols, coordinating drills for gas leaks, blowouts, oil spills, and medical evacuations (MEDEVAC).

Environmental Management

• Monitor environmental metrics, overseeing chemical storage safety, hazardous waste disposal, flaring compliance, and spill containment tracking.

Performance Reporting

• Track QHSE performance indicators, compiling daily safety metrics, Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR), and monthly compliance reports.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of active safety experience within upstream (drilling/offshore) or downstream (refinery/petrochemical) oil and gas operations.
• NEBOSH International Diploma or IGC (Grade A/B).
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• Bosiet / Foet certifications (if offshore).
