Role Purpose

The Psychiatrist - Child and Adolescent delivers high-quality evidence-based care through effective and efficient diagnosis, management, and treatment of all patients under their care. The role holder makes clinical recommendations and orders appropriate therapeutics and diagnostics based on each patient's diagnosed condition.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment and Treatment

• Assess and reassess inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis in line with established best practices.
• Conduct ward rounds and regular reassessment of inpatients and outpatients in accordance with established best practice.
• Diagnose, assess, and treat child and adolescent psychiatric conditions.
• Provide clinical excellence through effective and efficient diagnosis, management, and treatment of all patients.
• Deliver safe, effective, and holistic clinical services within accepted standards of care.

Investigation and Care Modification

• Review results of all investigations and develop and modify treatment as required.
• Regularly review results of all investigations and modify treatment as needed.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

• Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, and holistic care for individual patients.
• Liaise with colleagues, allied health staff, nursing, administrative and support services staff for additional input as required.

Documentation and Compliance

• Accurately document all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
• Support, implement, and follow all hospital, departmental, and divisional initiatives, policies, and procedures.
• Comply with all hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow-up practices.

Resource Management

• Practice appropriate utilization of the organization's resources.

On-Call Services

• Provide after-hours on-call coverage on a rotation basis with other clinicians in the Department.

Education and Academic Development

• Demonstrate an active interest in educating and fostering future academic leaders nationally and internationally through active participation in education initiatives.
• Demonstrate an active interest in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Research and Professional Development

• Demonstrate an active interest and involvement in research by initiating innovative clinical or research outcomes or collaborating on research projects to support the Sidra vision.
• Demonstrate commitment to Continued Medical Education (CME).

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• MD, MBBS degree, or equivalent.
• Residency training in Psychiatry.
• Subspecialty Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent certification.

Experience

• Two or more years of post-certification experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
