Project Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview

Project Quantity Surveyor at Al Tayer Group in Dubai, UAE. The role assists the Senior Quantity Surveyor in preparing bills of quantity, monitoring project works for variations, and enabling the project team to maintain profitability through accurate costing.

Key Responsibilities

Bill of Quantity & Tender Support

• Assist Senior Quantity Surveyor to examine tenders and determine the quantity of materials required for bill of quantity preparation.
• Prepare bill of quantity for the Estimation department to provide rational and competitive estimates enabling the company to win tenders.

Subcontractor Management

• Identify subcontract elements in tenders and float enquiries to obtain quotations.
• Vet quotations and prepare comparison reports to finalize subcontractors.
• Check all quantities in subcontractor accounts and re-measure all work carried out.
• Support subcontractors in the preparation of final accounts.

Project Monitoring & Valuation

• Assist Senior Quantity Surveyor in preparing monthly valuation reports to track the percentage of job completion against each item.
• Monitor project works to control deadlines and take corrective action if portions of work are falling behind schedule.

Variations & Additional Costs

• Assist Senior Quantity Surveyor in preparing detailed specifications for variations (changes in approved drawings or additions to the job).
• Obtain estimates of additional cost from the Estimation department for variations.
• Obtain client approval for variation costs.

Final Account & Payment

• Assist Senior Quantity Surveyor in preparing final accounts once the job is completed.
• Obtain payment certificates from the client to enable the company to collect outstanding amounts on due date.

Qualifications & Experience

• Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying.
• 3–4 years of experience.
• Approximately 1 year of experience in interior fit out or construction industry.
