Role Overview

Principal HR Generalist Administrator at McDermott, based on location as stated in the original posting.

Role Purpose

Provide specialized HR administration support with limited supervision, delivering skilled execution across a range of HR processes, procedures, and systems while serving as an informal resource and mentor to colleagues with less experience.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Records & Data Management

  • Maintain physical or digital employee files.
  • Prepare and submit tickets to the Global People Services team for updating of HR system data, including employee personal data, salary changes and promotions, and employment details.

Payroll & Compensation

  • Review and approve employee payroll claims.
  • Prepare and submit tickets to the Global People Services team for HR and payroll system updates.

Employee Support & Inquiry Resolution

  • Act as the point of contact for employees on general, payroll, and timesheet queries and resolve issues through immediate action.
  • Apply discretion and maintain high levels of confidentiality in all employee interactions.

Documentation & Correspondence

  • Generate documents such as offer letters, verification of employment, salary letters, and promotion letters.

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Coordinate onboarding and off-boarding processes, including conducting orientation sessions, exit interviews, benefit enrollments and exits, and system updates.

Process Support & Reporting

  • Support various HR processes by coordination and, in some cases, conducting meetings, tracking progress, and managing data.
  • Prepare reports and complex HR metrics.
  • Support general HR initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Global People Services teams on resolution of issues and ongoing improvements.
  • Make decisions and apply concepts to administrative issues of medium to high complexity within defined parameters.
  • Manage the full life cycle of specific HR processes as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of administrative experience, with at least 3 years in an HR administration role.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build good relationships.
  • Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks with superb accuracy.
  • Proficiency in HR systems such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, and Alfresco.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
