Principal Hardware & Software Test Engineer

Role Overview

Principal Hardware & Software Test Engineer at Cygnify. This role leads quality assurance and testing across hardware and software product integration from concept through production post-launch.

Role Purpose

To establish and drive test excellence across hardware and software systems, building early-stage quality visibility through innovative methodologies, robust test specifications, and actionable data analytics. This role acts as the technical authority for test and QA, ensuring seamless integration of quality processes into the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Test Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and manage home (alpha) test initiatives to capture issues at the product development early stage.
• Assess product performance in real-world conditions.
• Drive innovations in test methodologies, including the application of AI/ML and advanced data analytics to enhance detection reliability and test efficiency.
• Develop robust product-level test specifications and perform detailed product-level requirement analytics.

Quality Assurance & Validation

• Validate lab test outcomes against design quality to ensure seamless integration.
• Analyse in-life product quality and other data streams to develop actionable insights.
• Possess a strong understanding of electronics hardware and its interfacing to software systems.
• Maintain knowledge of software in IOT products, such as embedded, app, cloud and ML.

Reporting & Dashboards

• Build and drive a leading quality dashboard that functions as an early indicator for both software and hardware quality (SWHWPS).
• Report projects test progress and software quality status to senior stakeholders.
• Ensure clear communication across teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Ensure detailed and accurate test specifications are ready and aligned before Target Set milestones.
• Support design and engineering teams from concept through production post-launch.
• Act as a technical authority within the Test & QA team, collaborating with Development, Operations, Quality and Design teams to integrate test processes seamlessly into the product development lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimally 7 years product quality or software test relevant experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related fields.

Skills & Competencies

• Highly proficient in Python for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
• Hands-on experience using libraries such as Pandas and NumPy for data processing.
• Proficiency with Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly for creating automated quality visualizations.
• Skilled in building professional, automated dashboards using tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Ability to translate raw Python-processed data into intuitive visual interfaces for senior leadership tracking.
• Proficient in SQL for querying complex datasets.
• Experienced in working with modern cloud data platforms like AWS Redshift.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information clearly to executives and non-technical leaders.
• Strong ability to multi-task across multiple product deliverables and manage multiple schedules simultaneously.
