Role Overview

Primary Teacher – Maternity Cover at Smart Vision School, part of International Schools Partnership, located in Dubai. Fixed-term contract from 19th October 2026 until 26th February 2027, with the possibility of extension.

The school is introducing GCSE courses from the 2027–28 academic year.

Role Purpose

Deliver high-quality primary education ensuring continuity of learning, excellent pastoral care and consistently high expectations throughout the maternity cover period. Establish positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents while creating an engaging, supportive and ambitious learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery and Planning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and appropriately differentiated lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
  • Ensure effective delivery of the curriculum and pedagogical methodologies.
  • Ensure continuity of curriculum delivery, assessment and student progress throughout the maternity cover period.
  • Promote innovative, student-centered teaching practices.

Assessment and Student Progress

  • Use assessment effectively to identify students' strengths, address gaps in learning and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of assessment for learning and effective differentiation.
  • Analyze academic results and establish continuous improvement plans.
  • Maintain accurate assessment records, provide constructive feedback and contribute to student reporting as required.

Classroom Environment and Student Support

  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where every child feels safe, valued and motivated to learn.
  • Maintain high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, presentation and engagement.
  • Support students with a range of learning needs, including those requiring additional challenge, SEND provision or English as an Additional Language support.
  • Oversee students' academic, social, and emotional progress.
  • Implement support strategies for students with specific learning needs.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Coordinate behaviour management and wellbeing strategies.

Relationships and Communication

  • Develop strong relationships with students and maintain effective communication with parents.
  • Maintain effective and timely communication with parents and guardians.
  • Participate in parent meetings, conferences, and school events.
  • Address and follow up on concerns or significant situations.

Collaboration and School Community

  • Work collaboratively with year group colleagues, teaching assistants, specialist teachers and the wider Primary leadership team.
  • Lead pedagogical meetings and foster collaborative teamwork.
  • Contribute positively to the school's pastoral provision, safeguarding culture and wider school community.
  • Participate in school events, professional development and wider school activities.

Core Competencies and Values

  • Promote and develop the five Core Competencies: Curious, Courageous, Compassionate, Creative and Connected.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE with QTS or equivalent.
  • A relevant Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience teaching within the British curriculum, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for England and effective primary teaching approaches.
  • A proven ability to plan engaging lessons and secure strong student progress.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to establish positive relationships quickly.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND and EAL needs.
  • Previous experience working in a UAE or international school is advantageous, although not essential.

Additional Information

This is a fixed-term maternity cover position with the possibility of contract extension, subject to the school's staffing requirements.

Availability to commence employment on 19th October 2026 is required.

All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures, including an online due diligence search, references and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years' employment history.
