Porter - Pharmacy - Science Park

Role Overview

Porter - Pharmacy at American Hospital Dubai, located in Science Park. Supports safe, patient and family-focused quality care by assisting in the daily functioning of the pharmacy unit while maintaining confidentiality.

Role Purpose

Facilitate patient movement and comfort throughout the hospital, manage luggage and transportation needs, provide information and direction to patients and visitors, and maintain safe, clean, and organized work environments across assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Assistance

• Transfer patient luggage to and from patient rooms.
• Escort patients to rooms upon admission and discharge as needed.
• Escort patients throughout the hospital premises whenever the need arises.
• Assist patients upon admission and discharge as needed.
• Guide patients within the hospital premises if the need arises.
• Help patients and visitors load and unload luggage into and out of vehicles if requested.
• Assist disabled patients and visitors into and out of vehicles if requested.

Information & Customer Service

• Demonstrate knowledge of all hospital services and facilities.
• Answer patient queries regarding the location of hospital facilities.
• Maintain accurate knowledge of scheduled functions within the hospital to direct visitors to the correct locations.
• Provide information to prospective customers and hospital staff by answering all specific inquiries regarding patient queries.
• Answer phone calls politely and cordially, using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.
• Answer assigned mobile within three rings using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.
• Assist with Information Desk duties as required.

Operations & Facility Management

• Assist departments with their transportation needs throughout the hospital.
• Collect and deliver lab samples as directed.
• Ensure wheelchairs are available near the information desk.
• Monitor and maintain the appearance of the clinic's waiting areas.
• Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the waiting areas.
• Monitor and maintain tidiness and organization of all work areas.
• Ensure that the place of work and surrounding area is kept clean and organized at all times.

Safety, Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure a safe working environment through strict compliance with hospital policies and procedures regarding safety, infection and security.
• Comply with policies for personal and patient safety for the provision of healthcare-associated infections.
• Prioritize tasks ensuring effective functioning of the area.
• Act appropriately on assigned areas of duty.
• Remain in assigned post position, maintaining correct posture.
• Follow the chain of command in reporting incidents or concerns.
• Report equipment failure, safety and security issues, and reduction of supply inventory to the Patient Relations Supervisor.
• Promote incident and customer complaint reporting to improve patient and family care.
• Prioritize workload and complete correspondence on time.
• Participate in staff meetings as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Graduate.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of Customer Service Principles.
• Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
• Ability to speak in Arabic preferred.
