Planning Engineer-SWRO

Role Overview

Planning Engineer supporting the delivery of a SWRO Project with WSP in the Middle East. Working within the Owner's Engineer team, this role is responsible for monitoring, reviewing, and reporting project schedules, assessing construction progress, identifying potential delays, and supporting successful project delivery for the Fujairah IWP.

Role Purpose

Provide high-level planning and project controls support across design review, construction, commissioning and handover stages, in line with Owner's Engineer responsibilities for the project.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule Monitoring & Analysis

• Review, analyze, and monitor the Contractor's baseline schedule, recovery schedules, and detailed work programs.
• Ensure alignment with key project milestones from NTP to PCOD.
• Monitor construction progress and evaluate actual performance against planned activities.
• Review critical path analysis and schedule impact assessments.
• Review and validate contractor progress updates and earned value assessments.

Planning & Resource Coordination

• Provide high-level input on resource planning and deployment requirements based on construction progress.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to verify schedule integration.
• Check planning activities are undertaken in accordance with project procedures and reporting standards.
• Support documentation of planning decisions, schedule updates and agreed actions.

Schedule Reviews & Risk Management

• Support schedule reviews from an Owner's Engineer perspective, focusing on compliance, constructability and timely delivery.
• Highlight key schedule concerns early and support the project team in tracking agreed mitigation actions.
• Review risk management and delay analysis techniques.
• Support change management processes by assessing schedule implications of variations.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

• Contribute to monthly progress reporting and management presentations.
• Participate in project review meetings and present planning and progress updates to stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or equivalent).
• Minimum 6–10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
• Proven experience in large industrial, infrastructure, or desalination (SWRO) projects.
• Familiarity with EPC project lifecycle and construction methodologies.
• Experience working in the Middle East, preferably UAE.
• Certification such as PMP or Primavera P6 (preferred).

Skills & Competencies

• Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory) and MS Project.
• Knowledge of project control principles and scheduling techniques.
• Knowledge of cost integration.
• Understanding of risk management and delay analysis techniques.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
