Role Purpose

The Physiotherapist plans and directs the preparation and service of diets to patients and staff, with direct patient contact to instruct on nutritional principles, dietary needs, food selection and preparation. The role exercises supervision over Food Service Supervisors and all other Food Service Staff.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Management

• Visit patients and evaluate food intake and acceptance.
• Perform nutritional assessments using available tools and information.
• Complete initial resident nutritional assessment summary.
• Systematically chart on Dietary Progress.
• Assess need for supplementary feedings and tube feedings, making adjustments when necessary.
• Attend patients staffing and keep staffing notes in Patient's chart.
• Attend special staffing as needed.

Documentation & Records

• Note counseling, diet instruction given, nutritional assessment and other comments.
• Individualize caloric diets and record calculation on cardex card.
• Coordinate diet information with food service department and maintain familiarity with diet records system and diet ticket writing.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree.
• Two years experience in similar position in a hospital setting preferred.
• DHA license required.
• Fluency in Arabic and English required.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong communication skills.
• Computer literacy.
