Role Purpose
The Operative performs warehouse operations including shipment receiving, checking, order preparation, and dispatching. The role supports the efficient and accurate movement of goods through the distribution center while maintaining high standards of health, safety, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving and Put Away
- Offload, check, and put away all incoming consignments.
- Ensure careful and correct handling of stock.
Order Fulfillment
- Pick and pack customer orders as per requirement.
- Ensure accurate stock replenishment.
Dispatch and Loading
- Ensure proper checking, dispatch, and loading of vehicles against dispatch documentation.
- Carry out scanning, cello wrapping, heat shrinking, labelling, or other value-added services as per requirement.
Warehouse Maintenance
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Ensure the warehouse is kept clean and tidy.
- Ensure machinery, equipment, consumables, and other resources are carefully and efficiently used and well maintained.
Inventory Management
- Assist in stock counts, verifications, or other projects as instructed.
- Report any defects or damage of stock to supervisors.
Compliance and Safety
- Strictly follow standard processes, procedures, and work instructions.
- Ensure the department maintains a high standard of health, safety, and environmental performance as per ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Report all incidents, of any nature and however caused, to the immediate superior, completing all necessary documentation promptly and accurately.
- Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse any equipment provided for ensuring health, safety, or welfare.
- Report damage to equipment fixtures and fittings, MHE defects, and accidents at work.
Customer Service
- Maintain a high standard of customer service and remain customer-focused at all times.
- Maintain a cooperative work environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in warehouse operations or a related field is advantageous but not required.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.
- Understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and shipping and receiving processes is beneficial.
