Officer, Fire Training

Role Overview

Officer, Fire Training at ADNOC in Abu Dhabi. This is a 24-hour response role covering all Island operational and municipal facilities.

Role Purpose

Respond to fire, hydrocarbon release, toxic gas release, rescue and fire loss control incidents across the Island. Prevent and minimize loss of life and property damage. Supervise fire service personnel and auxiliary fire team members, assuming responsibility as incident commander until relieved by a more senior fire officer.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Training Supervision & Delivery

• Supervise the activities of the Island Fire Training Centre under the direction of the Lead Fire Training Officer, ensuring all training is completed in line with accepted standards and Fire Service policies.
• Prepare training aids and present all aspects of professional emergency response training for Fire Service personnel at all levels, including UAE Nationals undergoing Career Development Programs and Personnel Development Programs.
• Prepare training aids and present fire, emergency response team and chemical incident training courses for ADNOC Offshore facilities and related marine vessels.
• Prepare training aids and present all fire, emergency response, chemical incident, breathing apparatus and life support training courses for ADNOC Offshore and related contractors pan Zirku Island, including the Auxiliary Fire Team.
• Prepare training aids and give instruction on all equipment used within the department for related technician activities, including carbon dioxide/air compressors, bulk dry chemical filling machines and breathing apparatus test rigs.

Emergency Response & Incident Command

• Assume during emergency incidents duties of incident commander until relieved by a more senior fire officer.
• Lead and supervise firefighters involved in firefighting, oil/chemical spills and oil and gas release control measures, rescue and medical emergencies.

Emergency Preparedness & Exercises

• Prepare scenarios and implement simulated exercises for emergency response personnel, including the Auxiliary Fire Team and Fire Teams for Offshore facilities and associated marine vessels.

Facility Compliance & Inspections

• Carry out daily inspections of ADNOC Offshore facilities to ensure compliance with Company HSE Regulations, Fire Codes and Standards and compile related reports, BSA and STOPs.

Equipment Testing & Maintenance

• Supervise and give instruction on the testing and maintenance of major firefighting vehicles to ensure the competency of Fire Service personnel and that appropriate emergency preparedness is in place.
• Conduct the testing of marine firefighting tugs and major fire main components to ensure reliability and emergency preparedness.

Procedures & Documentation

• Review and develop departmental emergency procedures, maintenance programs, technical instructions and training manuals.
• Formulate and review chemical disposal methods and procedures.
• Carry out the safe disposal of hazardous chemical substances involved in emergency incidents and routine disposal.

Staff Supervision & Development

• Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
• Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver section objectives.

Budget & Performance

• Provide input for preparation of Department/Section budgets and assist in implementation of the approved budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
• Contribute to the achievement of approved Performance Objectives for the Department/Section in line with Company Performance framework.

Policies, Standards & Compliance

• Implement approved Department/Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in line with Company and International standards.
• Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Continuous Improvement

• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Reporting

• Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 5–6 years of experience in firefighting/protection and use of fire and life support equipment within the oil industry, five of which must be in a senior position.
• Watch Commander Level and Fire Service Instructor certification or equivalent.

• Proficient in English.
• Technical competencies as per ADNOC standard competencies.
• Behavioural competencies as per ADNOC standard competencies.

Additional Information

• 24-hour response basis.
• Frequent contact with site personnel up to Team Leader level and HSE Team for day-to-day operational matters.
• Routine contact with suppliers of fire equipment and training disciplines for purchasing and training matters.
