Occupational Health Specialist

Role Overview

KBR is seeking an Occupational Health Specialist – Offshore Site for a PMC project based at an Abu Dhabi offshore site in the UAE.

Role Purpose

To provide occupational health assurance, governance and technical leadership on large, complex multi-contractor offshore projects, ensuring compliance with ADNOC and UAE regulatory requirements while protecting workforce health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Occupational Health Assurance & Governance

• Deliver occupational health assurance and governance within large, complex and multi-contractor projects.
• Operate as a senior technical focal point for occupational health matters.
• Independently assess compliance with occupational health standards and requirements.

Risk Assessment & Investigation

• Conduct occupational health risk assessments.
• Investigate incidents and occupational illnesses.
• Identify compliance gaps and provide practical recommendations to project management.

Stakeholder & Team Coordination

• Work with contractor medical teams, occupational health personnel, industrial hygienists and welfare teams.
• Partner with project management to implement occupational health improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and occupational hygiene.
• Postgraduate qualification in occupational health and occupational hygiene.
• Minimum 17 years of relevant experience, preferably within oil and gas, petrochemical or major EPC projects, with strong practical occupational health experience.
• Preferably 5–8 years of relevant experience within the GCC or UAE.
• Experience across construction and subsequent project phases such as commissioning and start-up is preferred.
• Experience with ADNOC projects, standards and the UAE regulatory environment is highly preferred.
• Professional accreditation in occupational health or industrial hygiene from DOH or a recognized international body would be an advantage.
• Willingness to travel to international locations outside the UAE.

Skills & Competencies

• NEBOSH IGC certification.
• ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor qualification from an internationally recognized IRCA organization.
• Relevant training and certification in occupational health risk assessment, incident and occupational illness investigation and risk management.
• Strong knowledge of ADNOC occupational health requirements, UAE legislation and Abu Dhabi Department of Health requirements.
• Strong practical experience covering both occupational health and industrial hygiene rather than a general HSE-only profile.
• Ability to provide independent technical assessment and practical recommendations.
