Mechanical Technician

Role Overview

Mechanical Technician at ACWA Power. Reports administratively to the Sourcing Director within Field Operations.

Role Purpose

Safely accomplish the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of heavy rotating machinery used primarily in power generation applications. Work closely with Supervisors, HSE personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Maintenance

• Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Move machinery, parts and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
• Align machinery and equipment using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment equipment specialist recommendations.
• Perform machine and component inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules and calipers.

Technical & Operational

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
• Maintain good knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance equipment, practices and procedures.
• Demonstrate good understanding of latest technology and innovation.

Resource Management

• Control tools, equipment and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with Outage Managers, Field Service Engineers and Supervisors.
• Build rapport with plant crews and contractors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Technical Field or Gas Turbine Systems Technician qualification preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years' experience maintaining, dismantling and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators and turbines.
• Minimum experience in utilization of tooling.
• Knowledge of applicable legal, quality and HSSE requirements.

Additional Information
