Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Water Treatment

Role Overview

Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Water Treatment at Burjline Builders, supporting safe and reliable operation of a large-scale water treatment and desalination facility in the infrastructure and water sector.

Role Purpose

To deliver preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on RO systems, pumps, valves, rotating equipment, and associated plant machinery, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of water treatment operations.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors, and piping systems.
• Perform bearing and mechanical seal replacement and equipment overhauling.
• Assemble and disassemble plug, butterfly, and check valves.
• Assemble and disassemble compressors and motors.

RO Plant & Rotating Equipment

• Maintain RO plant equipment, including high-pressure pumps, booster pumps, pressure vessels, RO skids and membranes, filters and strainers, chemical dosing systems, valves and actuators, heat exchangers, and cranes and lifting equipment.
• Work with centrifugal, vertical, submersible, and dosing pumps.
• Work with PVDF and CPVC piping and materials.

Condition Monitoring & Analysis

• Perform equipment alignment, lubrication, and condition monitoring.
• Perform pump vibration monitoring and support predictive maintenance activities.
• Assist with root-cause analysis of mechanical equipment failures.

Commissioning & Operations Support

• Participate in equipment commissioning, startup, and shutdown activities.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and plant call-outs when required.

Documentation & Coordination

• Complete maintenance reports and update CMMS and work orders.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Coordinate with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
• Follow permit-to-work procedures and HSE requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience in desalination, water treatment, power plants, oil & gas, or industrial facilities.
• Strong hands-on experience with rotating and static equipment.
• Experience with pumps, valves, compressors, motors, bearings, and mechanical seals.
• Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
• Experience using CMMS or computerized maintenance management systems.
• Knowledge of equipment alignment, including laser alignment and dial gauge measurements.
• Strong troubleshooting and breakdown maintenance skills.

Skills & Competencies

• RO and desalination systems operation and maintenance.
• Pump vibration analysis and predictive maintenance.
• PVDF and CPVC materials and piping.
• Equipment commissioning and startup/shutdown procedures.

Additional Information

• RO and desalination experience is preferred.
• Direct experience with RO desalination systems is an added advantage.
• Experience with pump vibration analysis and predictive maintenance is an added advantage.
• Experience working with PVDF and CPVC is an added advantage.
• Experience in commissioning and startup/shutdown of water treatment or industrial plants is an added advantage.
