Role Purpose

To perform complex setups and machine a variety of components on multiple machine tools, working to extremely close tolerances and meeting customer needs safely and timeously. Layout and plan machining operations from prints, sketches or verbal instructions with limited supervision.

Safety & Quality

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Machine Operations

• Perform most complex setups and machine tool operations, including turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving and grinding.
• Operate advanced knowledge of horizontal and vertical lathes, layout machines, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills, grinders, deburring tools, fixtures, radial and angular drill press, forklifts, cranes, various forms of rigging, jib hoists and required tools.
• Work to extremely close tolerances.
• Complete layouts of most parts.

Measurement & Inspection

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and accuracy using micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges and other required measuring devices.
• Accurately measure and record all dimensional inspections as needed.
• Pass annual dimensional inspection tests.

Documentation & Communication

• Read and comprehend drawings, sketches, job scopes and verbal instructions.
• Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
• Document actions by completing production and quality logs.

Equipment Maintenance

• Maintain equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements.
• Notify the appropriate representative for troubleshooting and repairs.

Development & Training

• Train other employees in equipment operation, print reading, tooling selection, machining equipment operation and repair processes.
• Accept ownership over work performance.
• Stay abreast of job knowledge and new skill development.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalency.
• 5–8 years' experience with rotating turbomachinery.
• Experience with turbines, compressors and other rotating equipment.
• Advanced rigging capabilities.
• Advanced machining capabilities on manual lathes.

Skills & Competencies

• Full understanding of tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures and specifications.
• Proficiency with personal computers.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and sketches.
